Secondary Teachers
Mr. Philip Goertzen - Grades 8 & 9, Music Program Leader K-9
Mr. Goertzen is starting his second full year of teaching and is looking forward to more awesome playing from the BCA Concert Band. He has his Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education from UBC. He teaches mathematics, information technology to the 8/9s, and music to all the children at the school.
Mr. Goertzen enjoys a Starbucks Vanilla bean frap (the cold one, not the hot one) or a Tim Horton’s Fruit flavored tea, no sugar, no milk.
Mr. Abe Pienaar - Vice Principal, Grade 10 &11
Mr. Pienaar majored in French, History and English for his Bachelor of Arts degree. He also holds a Diploma for Higher Education (post-graduate). Mr. Pienaar has vast teaching experience and has taught languages and history/geography from Grades 8 – 12 for ten years in South Africa. He has grown quite fond of working with BCA’s younger students. Drawing on his ministerial experience of over 12 years at a Message assembly in Port Elizabeth and his experience with conducting youth camps, Mr. Pienaar has made a wonderful contribution to BCA’s morning devotions.
Areas of interest and specialization include: marching bands, guitar, hiking, art, writing and astronomy.
Mr. Pienaar enjoys a large cup of Earl Grey Tea with a spot of milk and a cube of sugar.
